Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, has donated food items to Islamic faithful across the state’s three senatorial districts to support Muslims in the Ramadan fasting season.
Speaking during the ‘Uplift Food Outreach’ programme in Ijebu-Ode, Ota and Abeokuta Central Mosques, Mrs. Amosun charged Muslims to refrain from sinful behaviours, which could jeopardise the rewards of Ramadan fasting.
A statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Idowu Showunmi, quoted the First Lady as saying Ramadan period should be seen as a sacred time to be closer to Allah.
At the Ijebu-Ode Central Mosque, the Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Alhaji Abdulrasak Salaudeen, offered prayers for the First Family in the state and appreciated the governor’s wife for her kind gesture towards the Muslim community in Ijebu-Ode.
In his remarks at the Ota Central Mosque, the guest lecturer, Imam Shakirudeen Kayode Sanni, said leaders must learn how to emulate the good leadership qualities displayed by Prophet Mohammad and rely on Allah. He also thanked the governor’s wife for her donations.
At the Abeokuta Central Mosque, the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Liadi Orunsolu, commended Governor Ibikunle Amosun for his projects across the state and lauded the governor’s wife for putting the Muslim faithful in mind.
